Indiana Jones and the Disappointed Omar

The week started off with the usual monotonous routine, work - college and finally home. On Thursday I got a text message from my sister asking me to get her some Indian movies she craves so much, so on my way back from the office I stopped by the video store to get the Indian movies. Anyways, After spending about 30 minutes in the shop and selecting a whole bunch of videos, I randomly asked the guy if he has the new Indiana Jones movie and to my surprise he said "Yes". I was overjoyed as I had been dying to see the new movie since its release. I've been a huge fan of Indiana Jones ever since I saw Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom with my parents at a local cinema many many years ago.

Anyways, as soon as I got home, I popped the DVD into the player and sat down with my dinner, shutting everyone out , waiting for the movie to start. It started off well with a classic situation that Indie has go himself into and I was just waiting for him to take out his whip and perform some cool bullwhip tricks, and he did managing a clean escape, And so the movie went on and I kept going deeper and deeper into the plot and trying to figure out what would happen next.

Indie did not fail to disappoint half way through and then suddenly, it happened!

It was something that I did not see coming AT ALL! Indie defied death, jumped over cliffs, took swan dives off three water falls and ended up in some ancient city but only to find a space ship or an Intergalactic vessel taking off.

I meant WHAT THE HELL! Indiana Jones has always been about myths and legends, ancient tribes, lost cities and funky rituals wit virgin sacrifices. What were the producers and directors thinking??? A space ship? An Inter dimensional Portal???

I was expecting some twist right about the point when the huge saucer took off and took my excitement with it leaving me in a sea of disappointment and a very bad mood!

A little recap of the previous Indiana Jones movies:

Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade - Won an Oscar

Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark - Won 4 Oscars

Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom - Won 4 Oscars

Indiana Jones and the Legend of the Crystal Skull - I would be shocked if it won any of the 6 nominations!

Advertising, PR and Media!
I've recently started working at an advertising agency in the client servicing department as a Senior Account Exec. I'm working with the Account Director who is my mentor and is teaching me everything he knows.

Anyways, its super fun!!! The office enviornment is very relaxed and everyone has freedom to try new things and experiment with stuff they think might work. I've worked on campaigns, gone to photo shoots and executed media plans worth millions. All this combined with a super cool boss I'm having the best time I've ever had in my 3 short years of working in the corporate world.

Im working on some major accounts like DHL, CDC, UBL etc. which makes it even more fun. The exposure is awesome!!! The best part about this particular agency is that the average employee age is between 20-30 which makes it even more interesting since everyone is young at heart with creativity flowing all over. Working in such a relaxed enviornment really gives people a chance to unwind and let the creative juices flow and that is how the team came up with WALLS, LICK A PRIZE - Dandi pay dhoondo apna inaam LOL

Here is a place where the most uncreative people can find some shred of creativity within them and come up with something cheesy yet catchy and useable. Our interns are pretty cool too, they're working round the clock and working hard for the chance to be part of this great team!

I am a Senior Account Executive and I work at HeadLion Pvt. Ltd. We Roar louder everyday!

The Call Center Blues
This is a post from a blog that I stopped posting on a while ago.

recently had the pleasure of joining the “Phone Banking” department of a local bank and it’s ben about 4 months or so that I’ve been working there. Before this I never thought I would NEVER work in a call center before this but when the oppurtunity came up I decided to jump up and grab it, and I’m glad I did. It’s not so bad working in a call center, I’ve met all kinds of people, friendly people surprisingly.

Working in a call center is not like a 9 to 5 job, one of the perks are that it rarely happens that one has to stay back and get over loaded with work, Afterall, we are not doing much except giving the Bank a voice and dealing with all kinds of weird cutomers all day long. It has taught me alot, now I can understand the numbers in punjabi aswll, I know how many different kinds of NIC numbers there are, How much free time people in Lahore have and that half of Pakistan has some sort of debt burden or something of the sort.

It definately has taught me alot about managing time and how to pretend to be busy when ur not really doing anythig except idling. I take pride in the fact that I know more about the bank policies and SOP’s than the people in the branches all over Pakistan, I can just call any branch from work and just say “This is Omar, from Head Office” and there’s instant respect on the other end hehehe

Anyways, enough ramblings for now…I will continue when I’m coherrent :)

Till I write again…
